The Necessary Judas

This blog I want to recommend a book written by our Australian WAA Coordinator, Rev. Glenice Mills. It’s entitled “BETRAYAL – SURELY NOT I?” and it’s a powerful read which is rapidly gaining a reputation for getting people helped and healed so that they can get up and go forward again.

When we think of the word ‘BETRAYAL’ we would probably all identify it strongly with Judas, the man CHOSEN to betray Jesus our Lord and Saviour. The betrayal of Jesus was crucial to His death and resurrection and therefore Judas’ treatment of Jesus was necessary in order for God’s plan for His Son and all of mankind to come to pass. Jesus called him ‘friend.’

Notice that the betrayer was CHOSEN for the job. I have had my own Judas, as I’m sure many of you have too. Perhaps we’ll be betrayed several times in our lifetime. Jesus was fully aware of Judas’ call and fate and He allowed it to take place. I’m sure He could have confronted him before it happened and turned his heart away from the plot but He knew it had to transpire in exactly the way it did for Him to complete His mandate.

So it should be with us, but is it? How many of those with a call to Kingdom Government have sat down again and wallowed in self-pity when ‘friends’, family or even insensitive/ignorant leadership figures in our life have let us down in some way or spoken a false witness against us? Jesus was able (and especially anointed and equipped) to take the kind of heat required to fulfil His role as Saviour. Biblical figures such as Moses, Joseph and Joshua were all ‘saviours’ in their times for God’s people, to deliver them INTO their destiny.

In these end times the Spirit of our ‘Saviour’ is still working through Apostolic men and women to assist in the ‘working out’ of the salvation of the saints. The church needs to be delivered from fear and delivered into boldness and resolve. Judas’ issue was DISAPPOINTMENT in his leader. Nothing was happening quickly enough or in the WAY he hoped it would. The PRESTIGE factor was missing and Jesus’ humility/servant leadership style offended his need for grandeur and wealth notoriety. He could be ‘chosen’ to betray because of his character flaws.

If we are to succeed as five-fold ministers we will from time to time suffer at the hands of betrayers who have ceased to be impressed with us and will sell us out. We must also remember that we are quite capable of offending in this ourselves! Persecution comes in all forms, but we mustn’t let it keep us down. It’s a privilege to be chosen to endure such things and should be a confirmation to us of God’s hand on our lives. Let’s also not forget that Judas did repent.

Glenice Mills’ own experiences with betrayal have forged her into the warrior she is today and we can all draw on that same hope. Just because we have enemies does not mean they get to win!

Their malice just draws out our valour. Amen!

Please get this book – it will strengthen you for the times we are in.

Marching forward, with joy,

Apostle Lynne
